Half-price shopping in the Canary Islands: How the new consumer vouchers work

The first regional-level consumer voucher campaign following the positive reception of the initiative in Tenerife, supporting municipalities affected by last August's wildfires, is about to start and the Government of the Canary Islands will foot half the bill for purchases made in stores across all of the islands.

Residents can acquire these vouchers at a cost ranging from 25 to 100 euros, with each voucher doubling in value, meaning they're worth between 50 and 200 euros.

The aim is to revive commercial activity across the islands, for which 2.5 million euros have been allocated, managed by the four chambers of commerce in the archipelago.

At midday on April 15th, some 80,000 vouchers will go on sale across the Canary Islands through the website bonoconsumoarchipielago.com, and the campaign will run for two months.

The distribution of vouchers per island is as follows:

- Gran Canaria: 29,620

- Tenerife: 29,455

- Lanzarote and La Graciosa: 6,469

- Fuerteventura: 4,920

- La Palma: 4,293

- La Gomera: 2,826

- El Hierro: 2,419

Vouchers can only be used in the islands where they are purchased and will be worth double the amount paid. Therefore, if you buy one for 25 euros, you will actually have 50 euros to spend in stores.

A single user can redeem several vouchers in one purchase and can also purchase vouchers in different islands, but there is a limit: a maximum of four per island, totalling 28 vouchers across all Canary Islands.

To make purchases, it will be necessary to present your residents' ID card before paying at the shop, in addition to presenting the voucher in either printed or digital format.

Which Stores Can I Use the Consumer Voucher In?

The list of shops participating in this campaign is available on the website bonoconsumoarchipielago.com from today, Wednesday, April 3rd.

Any stores in the Canary Islands wishing to join the initiative can do so through the web platform until the end of the campaign.
