A British tourist who won £3.6 million in the UK lottery has been sentenced in Spain for violently assaulting his partner at a luxury hotel in the south of Tenerife, just a month after receiving his life-changing prize.
The incident occurred while the couple were holidaying in Tenerife to celebrate the win. 40-year-old Sean Henderson is accused of attacking his partner, Suzanne Childs, in a five-star resort in Costa Adeje, causing head, facial, arm, and knee injuries.
She managed to escape the room and alert other guests, prompting a rapid police and medical response. Henderson was detained for 48 hours before admitting a gender-based violence offence. He was handed a six-month suspended sentence, a restraining order, and ordered to pay compensation.
The victim told The Sun newspaper that the attack followed a night of heavy drinking. A heated argument in their hotel room escalated until she was thrown against a wall and onto the floor, leaving her with multiple injuries.

The 42-year-old returned alone to the UK shortly after the assault, while her former partner remained on the island. She later saw social media posts showing him partying with friends, apparently unfazed by what had happened.
Henderson had recently won the UK National Lottery’s Set For Life prize, guaranteeing him £10,000 a month for 30 years. According to the victim, his behaviour changed immediately after the win: he quit his job, began spending heavily on alcohol, clothes, and nights out, and ultimately ended the relationship.
She said the money “brought out his true personality” and that she felt completely abandoned while he continued celebrating his newfound wealth.
