Female driver seriously injured in car accident in the south of Tenerife

A female driver was seriously injured in a head-on collision between two cars on the TF-66 road near Guaza in the south of Tenerife yesterday morning, and needed to be airlifted to hospital due to the severity of her injuries.

According to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES), the accident happened at around 10:20am which is when they received an alert informing them of the accident and advising that the female driver of one of the cars was trapped inside.

CECOES immediately dispatched the necessary emergency resources to the location given on the stretch of the TF-66 road that connects the Guaza BP roundabout with the El Palm-Mar roundabout, including the fire brigade and a medical helicopter.

When they got there, firefighters made sure the vehicles were safe by disconnecting the batteries before carefully freeing the injured woman who was trapped in her car so that she could be treated by paramedics and medical personnel from the El Fraile Health Centre.

After initially assessing and stabilising her, they decided that she should be airlifted to the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital for urgent treatment of multiple injuries from the accident, so the police coordinated traffic so the helicopter could land and she could be placed on board as quickly and smoothly as possible.

In addition to the seriously injured woman, two men also suffered injuries and were treated at the scene. Fortunately, their injuries were considered minor and they did not require further treatment.
