Man spotted walking along the TF-1 motorway in another dangerous incident

A man has been caught on camera walking along the hard shoulder of the busy TF-1 motorway in the south of Tenerife, the latest in a series of reckless incidents on the island’s roads.

The footage, filmed near Siam Mall on the southbound carriageway, shows the man strolling perilously close to fast-moving traffic, where speed limits are 120 km/h (75 mph).

The video, shared on social media, led the person who recorded it to remark: “Now I’ve seen it all.”

Not an Isolated Case

This is not the first time the TF-1 has seen dangerous behaviour in recent weeks. Earlier this week, another incident involved a person riding an electric scooter along the same motorway, also using the hard shoulder.

Spain’s traffic authority (DGT) has issued repeated warnings that pedestrians and Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMVs), such as electric scooters, are strictly banned from motorways, dual carriageways, interurban roads, and tunnels.

Electric scooters are only permitted on urban roads and must not exceed speeds of 25 km/h.

Fines and Serious Safety Risks

Walking along a motorway not only constitutes a major safety hazard but can also result in fines of up to €500 under current regulations.

Authorities stress that the real danger lies not in the penalty, but in the very high risk of a serious accident. “These roads are simply not designed for anything other than authorised motor vehicles,” a DGT spokesperson said.

With similar incidents on the rise, officials are urging the public to follow road safety laws and avoid putting lives at risk.
