Woman arrested after hiding from police in Tenerife apartment for months

The Canary Islands Police (Cuerpo General de la Policía Canaria) have arrested two women with outstanding court warrants during separate operations in Tenerife, including one who had allegedly spent months hiding inside a house to avoid being caught.

The first arrest took place in La Victoria de Acentejo, the north of the island, where officers from the Citizen Security Unit, assisted by the Judicial Police, located a woman who was wanted on several court orders.

According to police, the woman had allegedly been hiding inside a property for several months, deliberately avoiding going outside in an attempt to prevent officers from finding and arresting her.

Four outstanding court orders

After confirming her identity, officers established that she was subject to an active warrant ordering her search, arrest and imprisonment.

The warrant related to the enforcement of a sentence following a conviction for attempted burglary.

Police then discovered that the woman was also subject to three additional court orders for her search, arrest and appearance before the relevant judicial authorities.

The courts responsible for those orders were subsequently informed that she had been located and detained.

Once the necessary police procedures had been completed, the woman was transferred to Tenerife II Prison, where she was admitted to serve the sentence imposed by the court.

Second woman arrested in separate operation

In another operation in the north of Tenerife, officers arrested a 45-year-old Spanish woman who was also wanted by the courts.

She was subject to an outstanding judicial order for her search, arrest and appearance before a court.

Following her arrest, officers completed the necessary paperwork before taking her to the La Orotava duty court, where she was placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

The two arrests formed part of separate operations carried out by the Canary Islands Police to locate people with outstanding judicial warrants in Tenerife.
