82-year-old seriously injured after truck crashes onto roof of house in Tenerife

An 82-year-old man has been seriously injured in an unusual accident in Tenerife after the small truck he was driving left the road and ended up overturned on the roof of a house.
The accident happened at around 6:50pm on Saturday near the Carretera Nueva La Corujera in Santa Úrsula, in the north of Tenerife, according to reports from the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES), emergency services, who received an alert that a vehicle had fallen onto the roof of a residential property.
Firefighters from the Tenerife Fire Brigade were dispatched to the scene, where they found the vehicle overturned on the rooftop with its driver trapped inside.

Fire crews first secured the vehicle to prevent it from moving or falling further before working to free the driver, who was the only person inside.
Paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) treated the 82-year-old man at the scene.
He was found to have suffered serious multiple injuries in the accident and was stabilised before being transferred by ambulance to the Hospital Universitario de Canarias (HUC) for further treatment.
No information has been released regarding injuries to anyone inside the property.
The unusual location of the vehicle resulted in a substantial emergency response.
Alongside firefighters and paramedics, officers from the Santa Úrsula Local Police, Canary Islands Police and Guardia Civil attended, together with Civil Protection personnel.
The circumstances that caused the car to leave the road and end up on the roof of the property have not yet been confirmed.
