A powerful new documentary that captures the resilience of five Tenerife families living with rare childhood diseases will premiere exclusively on Televisión Canaria tomorrow, Wednesday, at 10:30pm.
Titled CERO CUATRO – Del infierno al cielo (From Hell to Heaven), the emotional film follows a group of children and their families as they take on a symbolic and physically demanding journey, climbing from Playa del Socorro to the summit of Mount Teide. The challenge serves as a metaphor for their daily battles: uphill, exhausting, and driven by hope.
Real Stories of Courage
At the heart of the documentary are five young children, Zoe, Fran, Sarah, Yaiza and Alexandra, each facing complex medical conditions, and each supported by their loved ones through the highs and lows of everyday life.
A Socially Driven Project
The initiative was spearheaded by Samuel Rizo, a staff member at Hotel Bitácora (part of the Spring Hotels Group) and founder of the non-profit organisation Mi Superhéroe Eres Tú ("You Are My Superhero"). His vision was to create something deeply human, a documentary that not only raises awareness, but also gives voice and visibility to families too often overlooked.
Spring Hotels backed the project both financially and logistically, aligning with their broader commitment to social responsibility. “Tourism’s wealth must also generate social wealth,” said CEO Miguel Villarroya.
The documentary has already made waves internationally, having been showcased at charity events in venues like the historic Teatro Leal in La Laguna and featured in various film festivals to raise both awareness and funds for the families involved.
A Story That Stays With You
CERO CUATRO – From Hell to Heaven is more than just a film. It’s a journey of resilience, unity, and human connection. As creator Samuel Rizo puts it, “The real challenge isn’t the climb, it’s everyday life. But this journey proved that human connection can achieve the impossible.”
The television premiere marks another step in spreading this message of strength and solidarity to people across the Canary Islands and beyond.
