The General Directorate of Emergencies has extended the weather warning for intense haze to all of the Canary Islands from 10:00am this morning (Tuesday), as strong winds from the east are bringing suspended dust, which will meet the storms and rain front that has affected the islands in the west.
They warn that there will be reduced visibility of just 1,500 metres in areas worst affected as the day progresses, and that concentrations will be between 640 and 1,240 micrograms of dust per cubic metre of air.
Likewise, the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has confirmed that as of this afternoon, a major intrusion of desert dust is expected "that will affect the easternmost islands first, but will spread quickly to the rest of islands“.
