A serious road traffic accident involving at least eight cars and a bus brought the TF-1 motorway in southern Tenerife to a standstill late on Thursday night. The incident occurred near Guaza, in the municipality of Arona.
According to emergency services, a 25-year-old pedestrian at the motorway bus stop was hit by a car during the incident and sustained serious injuries. Medical teams responded quickly, dispatching both a basic life support ambulance and an advanced life support unit to the scene of the accident.
Following an initial medical assessment on site, the injured pedestrian was stabilised and transported in serious condition to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz.
The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation and is handling the official proceedings related to the incident.
Traffic in the area was heavily disrupted for several hours as emergency services worked to assist those involved and clear the vehicles from the road. Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the collision or whether further injuries were reported.
