Man arrested in La Laguna with 400 kilos of hashish in a rented van

The National Police have arrested a 51-year-old man in the municipality of La Laguna in the north of Tenerife, after he was stopped whilst driving a rented van with 400 kilos of hashish in the back. The man, who is known to police and already has a criminal record for similar charges, was being tracked by police as he has a history of bringing drugs from different islands of the Archipelago to Tenerife.

After he was flagged arriving at Tenerife North Airport from the mainland, they followed his movements then intercepted him in the van in the municipality of La Laguna. When searching the vehicle, National Police investigators found more than 400 kilograms of hashish in the back divided into several boxes.

After the discovery, officers arrested him and seized the narcotic substance, placing him at the disposal of the judicial authority, who have charged him for a crime against public health and being in possession of illegal substances with the intent to distribute, and ordered him straight to prison.
