A 76-year-old man is in a critical condition after suffering a heart attack while walking along the TF-82 road near Tijoco, in the municipality of Adeje, in the south of Tenerife.
The incident occurred at around 12:20pm today, Saturday 12th July, according to reports from the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES).
The 112 control centre were alerted after the man collapsed in the middle of the road, and immediately dispatched the necessary emergency resources to the location given. On arrival, medical teams found the man in cardiac arrest and began performing both basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Their swift intervention proved successful, as they were able to restore the man's heartbeat. Once stabilised, he was transported by ambulance to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz, where he was admitted in a critical condition.
Local Adeje police officers also attended the scene to secure the area and assist the emergency teams during their intervention.
