Motorcyclist killed in accident in Teide National Park

A motorcyclist was killed yesterday (Thursday) after a fall in the Teide National Park, as reported by the Emergency and Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) for the Canary Islands.

The incident occurred close to the Mines of San José on the TF-21, where the victim was rendered unconscious. Several people were at the scene, two of whom were healthcare professionals who confirmed that the rider of the motorbike was in cardiac arrest, so they began performing resuscitation manoeuvres.

After receiving an alert, CEOCES immediately dispatched an ambulance and a medicalised helicopter to the location given, and paramedics continued with advanced CPR, but unfortunately without success, and they could only confirm the motorcyclist's death.

The Guard Civil collated the relevant report and opened an investigation into the cause of the accident, while personnel from the Road Conservation Service carried out cleaning tasks on the road to reduce traffic congestion.
