Covid update: New cases stay below 100, one death in Tenerife

The Ministry of Health have reported 94 new cases of Covid-19 in the Canary Islands today, as well as one Covid related death in Tenerife, meaning 771 people have now lost their lives since the pandemic began.

The total number of accumulated cases in the Islands is now 57,027 and active cases have risen to 1,710 of which 38 are admitted to ICU, 189 are hospitalized, and 1,493 are in home isolation.

The Accumulated Incidence rate at 7 days in the Canary Islands remains at 33 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and at 14 days is 67 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

By islands, Tenerife today adds the most again with 53 new cases, followed by Gran Canaria with 21, Lanzarote with 9, Fuerteventura has 5 new cases, La Palma has 2, and La Gomera and El Hierro has none.

Cases and discharges have been low over the weekend meaning not much change in active cases or incidence rates. In the next couple of days there should be decreases in all if new cases stay below 100, but again, its Tenerife that needs to improve its epidemiological data.
