Dead body of a man found in a ravine behind a school in Gran Canaria

Police have confirmed that the body of a man was found in a ravine behind the San Vicente de Paúl school in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria yesterday morning, Saturday 31st October.

A resident raised the alarm at around 8:00am after spotting the body in the Guiniguada valley. Police and firefighters reached the difficult-to-access area using climbing and abseiling equipment.

A helicopter from the Canary Islands Government’s Emergency and Rescue Group was also called in to help recover the body.

The body was taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine, where an autopsy is being carried out to officially identify the man and to establish the cause of death.

National Police investigators, including officers from the Homicide Group and Scientific Police, are handling the case.
