Air Canada’s direct flights from Toronto to Tenerife South Airport are now operating, with the first service arriving on Monday (26th October). A second connection, from Montreal, is scheduled to begin today.
The first Toronto flight landed at Tenerife South at 9.10am, according to Turismo de Tenerife. The aircraft later returned to Canada carrying a delegation from the island. The new service is seasonal and gives passengers a direct link between Tenerife and Canada.
The Montreal service is scheduled to depart Montréal–Trudeau Airport at 9.00pm tonight, Saturday 31st October, and arrive at Tenerife South at 9.00am tomorrow morning, according to Air Canada’s published timetable. The airline lists its winter schedules into April 2027.
The routes were announced earlier this year. Their launch is a new development for travellers: Toronto flights have moved from planned service to operation, while the Montreal connection is about to follow.
For Canadian visitors, the direct flights provide a way to reach Tenerife without changing planes in another country. They also offer another travel option for people living in the Canary Islands who have family, work or other connections in Canada. Air Canada’s wider network may allow onward connections from Toronto and Montreal, depending on the itinerary and ticket booked.
Turismo de Tenerife has described Canada as a strategic market as the island works to attract visitors from a broader range of countries. The Cabildo says the new links are part of that effort. It has not published a forecast for how many additional visitors the routes will bring or what economic effect they will have.
Air Canada’s published schedule gives the operating dates and times for each direction. As with any seasonal route, passengers should check the airline’s booking calendar and their own reservation for the latest flight information before travelling.
