19-year-old in critical condition after falling from third floor of hotel in Fuerteventura
A 19-year-old man is in a critical condition after falling from the third floor of a hotel complex in Pájara, Fuerteventura, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to the Canary Islands Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) 112, the incident occurred at around 2:00am. The reasons behind the fall are still unknown.
Emergency services, including paramedics from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC), were quickly dispatched to the location given. When they got there, they treated the young man for severe multiple injuries and stabilised him before taking him to Fuerteventura General Hospital in a medicalised ambulance.
The Local Police and Guardia Civil attended the scene and have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the fall.
Authorities in the Canary Islands often remind visitors and residents to take extra care on balconies and in hotel complexes, particularly at night or after consuming alcohol, as accidents of this nature sadly occur each year.
