Covid update: 126 new cases and one death in Lanzarote

The Canary Islands have added 126 new cases of coronavirus this Shrove Tuesday, raising the total since the start of the pandemic to 38,755 people who have tested positive. According to data from the Ministry of Health, Gran Canaria registered most of the cases today with 58, followed by Tenerife with 49 and Lanzarote with 11.

The islands currently have 6,881 active cases (50 less than yesterday) of which 79 are admitted to Intensive Care (ICU), seven fewer than yesterday, 302 are admitted to hospital wards and the rest (6,500) are undergoing treatment at home.

The islands registered one death in Lanzarote in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people who have lost their lives during this pandemic to 563 in the islands. The positive point today is the 175 epidemiological discharges recorded in the last 24 hours, and a slight drop in incidence rates.
