If cheese is one of your weaknesses, Tenerife has an event coming up later this month that could be difficult to resist. The Cheese&More Lovers Fest will take place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September at the Castillo de La Laguna, bringing together two days of activities dedicated to one of the most important and best-loved products in Canarian cuisine.

And while eating cheese will understandably be a major attraction, the weekend is designed to offer considerably more than simply working your way through a succession of tasting plates.

The programme will combine cheese tastings, workshops and live showcooking demonstrations, giving visitors the opportunity to discover different varieties, learn more about local products and see how cheese can be incorporated into different dishes.

A chance to discover Canarian cheese

Cheese occupies a particularly important place in the gastronomy of the Canary Islands, with the archipelago producing a huge variety of fresh, semi-cured and cured cheeses.

Goat's milk is particularly important to traditional Canarian cheesemaking, although producers also work with sheep's and cow's milk, as well as mixtures of different milks.
