Two people have been arrested, and a third is under investigation following a fight in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote,  in which a teenager was stabbed in the back, and another person suffered head injuries.

The incident happened on 17th August near a nightlife area in the popular Lanzarote resort. Police say an argument between two groups escalated into violence, resulting in the teenager being attacked with a knife.

The injured teenager was taken by ambulance to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital for treatment. A second person suffered injuries to the head which required stitches.

Investigators obtained video footage recorded by a witness which allegedly showed those involved leaving the area before officers arrived. Police said the footage helped them identify a 44-year-old man believed to have been involved.

Information gathered from witnesses suggested those responsible could be living in Arrecife. Further enquiries led investigators to identify another suspect who was allegedly recognised by the victim and witnesses as the person who carried out the stabbing.

A third person is also under investigation for allegedly helping those involved. Police said this person was the registered owner of the vehicle allegedly used to leave Costa Teguise and travel towards Arrecife following the incident.

The two arrests and investigation relate to allegations of attempted homicide and a separate assault offence. The case has now been referred to the courts in Arrecife.
