Tragic death occurs as man falls down cliff in the Canary Islands

A man tragically lost his life yesterday (Friday) after plummeting into the Los Cernícalos ravine in Telde, Gran Canaria, according to reports from the Emergency Services Coordination Centre for the Canary Islands (CECOES).

The incident occurred at around 1:30pm when a call to the emergency services call centre (112) alerted authorities that a man had fallen at the base of the picturesque waterfall.

Swiftly responding to the call, the relevant services, including a GES helicopter, were dispatched to the scene, successfully rescuing the victim who was found in a critical state of cardiorespiratory arrest.

The dramatic rescue unfolded as the emergency team carefully transferred the injured man to the helipad situated in El Berriel, where SUC medical personnel started rigorous resuscitation efforts. Unfortunately, despite their valiant attempts to revive him, paramedics could only confirm his death.

Currently, the National Police are conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident, to bring clarity to the sequence of events leading to the man's fall.
