An unusual and unsettling scene unfolded yesterday, Sunday 29th June, where a man in Santa Úrsula (Tenerife) was recorded setting fire to his own clothes in the middle of a public street.
The incident, which has sparked surprise and concern among local residents, was captured on video and posted on social media platforms such as Facebook by Los Jardineros Tenerife, generating numerous comments and reactions.
The incident took place on the TF-217 road, just a few metres from a bus stop and very close to both the Santa Úrsula Town Hall and the Local Police headquarters.
In the footage, the man can be seen calmly igniting a small pile of clothing, appearing unperturbed throughout the act. The unusual spectacle happened in broad daylight in an area frequently used by both pedestrians and vehicles.
At this stage, it remains unclear why the man set fire to his clothes. There is also no official confirmation on whether he might suffer from any mental health issues. Reports suggest that emergency services did not intervene at the scene.
The video has prompted a mixed response from viewers online. Some expressed concern for the man’s well-being, questioning whether he needs psychological help, while others criticised the act for endangering public safety.
