CD Tenerife win ‘Best Fans’ award despite relegation

Despite suffering the heartbreak of relegation this season, CD Tenerife have been recognised as having the “Best Fans of the 2nd Division” at the National Fan Club Congress held recently in Castellón.

The award was given based on several factors, including attendance, passion, away travel, and charitable initiatives carried out over the season. Even in a year to forget on the pitch, support for the club never wavered: crowds at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium in Santa Cruz averaged around 13,000 people, highlighting the loyalty and spirit of the Tenerife faithful.

Remarkably, away support held strong right until the end, with 300 fans travelling to Almería for the final match, even though relegation had been confirmed weeks earlier. In a further sign of devotion, over 2,200 season tickets have already been snapped up just days into the launch of the 2025/26 season ticket campaign.

Tough road ahead in RFEF 1 North

CD Tenerife will now compete in the RFEF 1 North Group for the 2025/26 season. This placement, which has surprised many given the geographical logistics, means longer flights and generally worse pitches and weather than they would have faced in the South Group.

While the decision appears illogical to most, the team and fans will simply have to face the challenge head-on as they look to bounce straight back to the second tier.

Women’s team in Spain’s top division

In more positive news, CD Tenerife now have a side competing at the very top of Spanish women’s football (Liga F), thanks to their recent merger with Costa Adeje Tenerife.

The women’s team will play their biggest matches, including high-profile fixtures against FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, and Real Madrid, at the Heliodoro Stadium. Other games will be hosted at the CD Tenerife Sports City in Geneto, La Laguna.

A combined season ticket is now available, offering fans access to both the men’s and women’s matches. Full details can be found on the CD Tenerife website.
