The new Minister of Tourism for Spain is Hector Gomez from Tenerife

The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, has announced two changes to his cabinet this morning (Monday) because the current Minister of Tourism, Reyes Maroto, and the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, are stepping down from their roles.

Sanchez has confirmed that the new Minister of Tourism is Héctor Gómez while José Manuel Miñones will take over as the Minister of Health. Maroto and Darias have both departed to be candidates for the municipal elections on May 28th, with Darias running as Mayor of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria.

Héctor Gómez was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 16th November 1978, and was brought up in Guia de Isora in the south of Tenerife. Between 2017 and 2021, he was the Secretary of International Relations of the Federal Executive Commission of the PSOE, and between 2021 and 2022 he was spokesman for the PSOE in the Congress of Deputies, and until today, he was the president of the Constitutional Commission of the Congress of Deputies.
