The Canary Police have reported that they issued 25 sanctions for illegal camping on Sunday in the protected area of Montaña Pelada, located in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona in the south of Tenerife.

During the intervention, officers found numerous people engaged in illegal camping activities, including making fires and leaving rubbish and waste in the natural reserve, which is a protected area. These actions not only violate local regulations but also pose significant risks to the environment.

In addition to the camping violations, the police also fined two motorcyclists for riding in a prohibited area within the protected region on the same day.

Environmental Concerns

Montaña Pelada is a designated protected natural area, and activities such as illegal camping and off-road motorcycling can cause substantial harm to the delicate ecosystem.

The enforcement actions by the Canary Police highlight the importance of preserving these natural habitats and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

The Canary Police have reiterated their commitment to monitoring and protecting natural areas from such activities. They urge the public to respect designated protected zones and adhere to local laws to help preserve Tenerife’s natural beauty and ecological integrity.
