Eight people were injured in a multiple-vehicle collision involving six cars on the southbound carriageway of the GC-1 motorway in Gran Canaria yesterday (Tuesday), at kilometre point 34, near Juan Grande, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, according to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre of the Canary Islands (CECOES).
They received several alerts informing them of the accident and dispatched the necessary emergency resources including SUC medical personnel who treated eight people at the scene for various injuries before they were all transported to hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
The Guardia Civil and Gran Canaria Firefighters assisted in managing the scene, ensuring safety, and facilitating the flow of traffic. Their intervention was crucial in addressing the immediate aftermath of the collision and aiding the injured.

The accident resulted in considerable traffic congestion on the southbound lanes of the GC-1, affecting the flow of vehicles and causing delays for commuters and travellers.
