Three injured by falling palm tree in Playa de Las Americas
Three people were injured yesterday afternoon when a palm tree split and fell over on Calle Francisco Andrade Fumero in Playa de Las Américas in the south of Tenerife at around 4pm in the afternoon.
According to a report by the Emergency Services Coordination Center, three women were injured, when the tree landed on them as they were walking on the sea front walkway behind Veronicas.
As a result, a 47-year-old woman has suffered serious multiple injuries and was transferred by ambulance to Hospiten Sur, while a 45-year-old woman and another 47-year-old suffered minor injuries.
The police and fire brigade have cordoned off and tidied the area of the tree, which looks like it has just collapsed due to a freak accident.
