51,000 people in ERTE in the Canaries will receive extra benefit up to 1,100 euros

The Governing Council of the Canary Islands has given the green light to the decree by which 30 million euros will be used for a single payment benefit to 51,027 workers in ERTE, who receive less than the salary minimum interpersonal base of 950 euros per month from the government.

The Minister of the Economy, Elena Máñez, confirmed yesterday that this supplement will be processed ‘ex officio’, for the first time in the Canary Islands, meaning that the beneficiaries will receive a single payment directly into their bank accounts without having to make any type of application, as the government will request the data directly from SEPE tomorrow.

The amount of aid is in bands depending on how much you receive now in ERTE, as follows:
- 1,100 euros will be paid to the 13,105 workers who receive a monthly benefit of less than 395 euros;

- 550 euros will be paid to the 19,289 workers who receive between 395 and 600 euros per month;

- 300 euros will be paid to the 18,633 people who receive between 600 and 950 euros in ERTE.

Mañez also said that the decree will be published in the BOC this Wednesday (tomorrow) and the payment process will begin. The agreement for this aid was signed between the CCOO and UGT unions, and the regional Government within the Reactiva Canarias plan. The money will be advanced by the Canarian Government, and subsequently, they will be reimbursed by the REACT funds.
