11.4% of the Canarian target population is already immunized against Covid

A total of 223,212 people have already received the complete vaccination schedule in the Canary Islands (either two doses or Janssen single dose), which represents 11.40% of the target population to be vaccinated (1,871,033 people), according to a report from the Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands.

A total of 684,401 doses of vaccines against Covid have been administered, of the 799,820 received, which represents 85.57% of the doses delivered to the islands. In addition, in the archipelago there are already 469,107 people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine, which over 25% of the target population.

Vaccination in Spain has accelerated so much in recent days that it has even exceeded the speed with which the Ministry of Health updates the national strategy. The Minister of Health for Spain, Carolina Darias, acknowledged yesterday (Wednesday) that several communities are already immunizing people in the age group between 50 and 59 years old.

Aragon, Andalusia, Navarra, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and the Basque Country are already calling people in this age group to make appointmentsfor their first jab which is with either Pfizer or Moderna.
