The emergency services have informed that a tourist pleasure boat spotted a dead body floating in the sea approximately 1,000 metres from the port of Los Cristianos at 10.20 am this morning, off the south coast of Tenerife.
Up to now, the details are very sparse and all that has been communicated is that it is the body of a man, who as yet has not been formally identified.
CECOES dispatched a Maritime Rescue boat to the location pinpointed by the pleasure boat, and they managed to recover the body and took it to the aforementioned dock, where the Canary Islands Emergency Service staff confirmed his death.
The Guardia Civil, whose agents also participated in the rescue, took over guarding the body until the arrival of the judicial authority, and a full autopsy and investigation are underway to confirm the man’s identity and circumstances surrounding his death.
