Covid update: 55 new cases and no deaths for second day running

The latest data from the Ministry of Health shows that 96,058 people in the Canary Islands have now tested positive for coronavirus after 55 new cases in the last 24 hours, with just 2 people medically discharged. This means that there has been an increase in active cases to 766, of which 72 Covid patients are in hospital wards and 22 are in ICU with 672 in home isolation.

Of the new cases today, 23 are in Gran Canaria, 22 are in Tenerife, 8 are in Lanzarote, 2 in Fuerteventura, and none in La Palma, La Gomera, or El Hierro. Currently, 84.91% of the target population over the age of 12 have received at least one vaccine, with 83.26% fully vaccinated as the third booster jab is being administered to the most vulnerable in nursing homes before starting on the age groups on October 25th.
