Covid update: Less than 100 new cases and incidence rates drop again today

The Canary Islands has added two deaths and 99 new cases this Saturday, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands. The deaths occurred in Las Palmas in Gran Canaria and La Laguna in Tenerife.

The total number of accumulated cases in the Islands is now 53,644 with 2,847 active, of which 72 are admitted to ICU and 253 remain hospitalized. In the 24 last hours, the death of two women has been reported: a 94 year old in Tenerife and a 66 year old in Gran Canaria. Both had previous pathologies and were associated with individual family outbreaks.

The Accumulated Incidence at 7 days in the Canary Islands has dropped to 41.45 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 14 days is now 87.04 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

By islands, Tenerife today adds 39 new cases and has 1,864 still active; Gran Canaria adds 38 cases and has 811 active. Lanzarote adds 20 new cases, Fuerteventura adds 2, and La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera have no cases on any of the three islands.

Further good news in Tenerife as the number of active cases in the capital, Santa Cruz, have dropped below 1,000 to 980, the lowest number this year.
