Covid update: Over 100 new daily cases and no deaths for the second day running

The latest data from the Ministry of Health reports of more than 100 new daily cases for the second day running, 103 yesterday and 101 today. Of the new cases, 43 are in Tenerife, 36 are in Gran Canaria, 16 are in Fuerteventura, and 6 are in Lanzarote. No new cases are reported in the other three islands, and no deaths have been recorded for the second day running also.

They have also informed that there have been 41 new outbreaks with 183 people infected by them this week. Of these 20 are in Gran Canaria, 11 are in Tenerife, 7 in Fuerteventura, and 3 in Lanzarote. In the area they are from, 15 are from social gatherings, 10 from the work environment, 9 from family get-togethers, and 7 in socially vulnerable centres.

Janssen booster jabs:
The SCS has updated the schedule for the different age groups who received the Janssen single-dose vaccine, to get their Pfizer booster jab. Currently, they are inoculating the most vulnerable members of the population, and the over 70s who had Janssen.

However, they will contact others as follows:
- People between the ages of 60 and 69 who were vaccinated with Janssen will be given appointments from tomorrow (Thursday) via SMS.
- From November 8th, people aged between 50 and 59 years old who were vaccinated with Janssen will be able to make an appointment on 012 to get the booster dose.
- On November 16th patients between 40 and 49 years old who have been vaccinated with Janssen can make an appointment by calling 012.
- From the 23rd of this month people under 40 years old who received the Janssen vaccine can call 012 to request their appointment.

People are reminded that if they want to travel without incurring PCR test costs and quarantine, they will need to make sure they have their booster jab. Appointment can be made or modified by calling 012, or 922 470 012 for Tenerife, or 928 301 012 for Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
