A man and a woman have been arrested in Lanzarote for drug trafficking after a National Police investigation that began in early November. The operation culminated on 19th December, when officers intercepted the pair near their home and found them in possession of significant quantities of illegal drugs.
Police started an inquiry after receiving information suggesting the couple were involved in selling narcotics on the island. Surveillance and follow-up operations allowed officers to confirm the suspects’ activities and identify their methods.
In the early hours of Friday 19th December, a police team was deployed near the suspects’ home. Officers watched one of them take extensive precautions before leaving the property and heading towards their car, a grey Porsche Cayenne, where they were both arrested before they got into the vehicle.
During the search, police discovered several magnetic containers stuck to the underside of the vehicle. Inside were 530 grams of cocaine, 100 grams of methamphetamines, and 295 ecstasy tablets.
A subsequent search of the suspects’ home, authorised by a court, uncovered additional drugs and cash. After completing the necessary procedures, both detainees were brought before a judge, who ordered one of them to be remanded in custody.
