The Traffic Division of the Guardia Civil, based in the Santa María de Guía Detachment (Gran Canaria), have apprehended two men, aged 42 and 23 years old, for riding a motorcycle on GC-3 without a valid driving license and in possession of cocaine.
The incident occurred on the GC-3 road when officers were carrying out specific tasks related to road safety, and signalled a motorcycle to stop for identification purposes, as reported by the Guardia Civil in a press release.
Upon the agents' signal to stop, the passenger on the motorbike dropped a plastic bag onto the ground, which was seen by the officers who went and retrieved it. On closer inspection, they discovered the bag contained a white powdery substance, which after testing was confirmed to be 93 grams of cocaine.
Following this, the two men were arrested. The 42-year-old driver was charged with an offence against traffic safety, driving a vehicle without ever obtaining a licence, and the 23-year-old passenger was arrested for being in possession of 93 grams of cocaine, which was in the bag they had thrown on the ground.
The detainees, along with the confiscated drugs and the investigative procedures conducted by the police, were handed over to the jurisdiction of the corresponding court in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
