Two dead and one seriously injured in a head-on collision in Lanzarote

A 20-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman have been killed in a traffic accident that occurred this morning (Sunday) on the LZ-1 highway, at the height of Mala, in the municipality of Haría (Lanzarote), in which a 26-year-old woman was also seriously injured, according to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).

The incident occurred around 9:15am in a head-on collision between a car and a campervan, with one of them overturning, leaving several people injured and trapped inside the two vehicles.

CECOES immediately activated the relevant emergency resources to the scene, and upon arrival, firefighters secured the vehicles and freed the trapped individuals so that SUC medical personnel could assess those affected.

They, unfortunately, confirmed the death of two of them and transferred the seriously injured one to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife for urgent treatment.

The Guardia Civil took charge of conducting the corresponding proceedings after the accident, while Local Police officers and Civil Protection personnel collaborated with the emergency services to ascertain the cause of the accident.
