Tuesday Weather: Cloudy skies and light rain in northern areas of the Canary Islands

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has forecasted cloudy skies for the northern areas of the Canary Islands today, Tuesday, with light and occasional rainfall. Exceptions include Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, where skies are expected to be less cloudy. The south of the islands are forecast to be clearer and sunnier.

Minimum temperatures will remain stable, while maximum temperatures will see a slight drop in interior areas, more pronounced in higher altitudes.

A moderate northeasterly wind is expected across the archipelago, with stronger intervals in the interior areas of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, as well as the southeastern and northwestern extremes of the mountainous islands, where occasional very strong gusts cannot be ruled out.

Winds over the sea will generally blow from the north or northeast at force 3 or 4, strengthening to force 4 or 5 in western coastal areas and even reaching force 6 in some parts of El Hierro, Tenerife, and La Gomera.

Seas will range from slight to moderate, increasing to rough in offshore areas by the afternoon. Northwest swells of 3 to 4 metres are also expected.

Today’s forecast for each island:

LANZAROTE:
Cloudy intervals during the first half of the day, clearing up by the afternoon. Temperatures will remain steady, with a slight drop in maximum temperatures in the interior. Moderate northeasterly winds will increase in strength in interior and western areas later in the day.
Temperatures: minimum of 16°C and maximum of 23°C.

FUERTEVENTURA:

Elsewhere, skies will remain mostly clear. Minimum temperatures will hold steady, while maximum temperatures will decrease slightly inland, with a more noticeable drop in high-altitude areas. Northeasterly winds will be moderate, with strong gusts expected in the southeastern and western extremes, possibly reaching very strong levels in some areas.
