Thousands unite for the Walk for Life in the South of Tenerife

A wave of pink swept across southern Tenerife today as thousands came together for the annual Walk for Life to raise awareness of breast cancer. Participants of all ages and nationalities once again responded enthusiastically to the call of this charitable event, organised by the Carrera por la Vida Foundation.

The event began at 10.30 this morning (Sunday) with a vibrant atmosphere filled with activities for all ages, including dances, a 360-degree photo booth, face painting, and a massive balloon bubble, setting the stage for a festive and meaningful day.

“This turnout is absolutely inspiring,” said Yaiza Díaz, the ambassador of this 19th edition, moments before the walk began. She also called on institutional representatives to go beyond emotional support and provide definite improvements in treatments for breast cancer patients.

Brigitte Gypen, president of the Carrera por la Vida Foundation, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the overwhelming support from the public, as well as institutions and businesses, including the Mayors of Adeje and Arona who were both in attendance.

She made a special appeal for recognition of the volunteers who make the event possible. Stressing the importance of early detection, she stated, "Early detection saves lives, this is the key message for today and every day."

The walk officially commenced as the siren of a fire engine signalled the start, sending participants on their way in a powerful demonstration of unity and determination against breast cancer.

The Carrera por la Vida continues to be a beacon of hope, reminding everyone of the importance of community support, awareness, and proactive health measures in the fight against cancer.
