The southern region of Tenerife is gearing up for a grand celebration tomorrow (Sunday) to welcome the Three Kings, Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar, with parades and festivities planned across several municipalities.
From dazzling processions to spectacular shows, the event promises joy and excitement for families and children alike.
Arona: A Festive Parade in Los Cristianos
In Arona, the most populous municipality in the south, the royal parade will commence at 6:30pm from the roundabout on Avenida Juan Carlos I in Los Cristianos.
The procession will move along Avenida Ámsterdam, culminating in the Plaza del Pescador near the Los Cristianos Cultural Centre. Here, the Three Kings will collect letters from children. The route has been adjusted for safety, ensuring a comfortable and secure experience for attendees.
The local council highlights the added benefit of the earlier time than previous years, which is expected to boost local businesses.
Adeje: Helicopter Arrival and Magical Performances
Adeje is set to host a unique spectacle, with the Kings arriving by helicopter at the municipal football field. Gates will open at 4:45pm for those with tickets secured through Tomaticket.
The festivities begin at 5:30pm with a children’s show featuring Lúa and Aylah, the Magical Locksmiths who guard the key to all homes in Adeje. The event will also feature the Ballet Beanky and popular children's characters.
At 7:00pm, the town centre’s Calle Grande will light up with a parade of music, colourful floats, and royal messengers. The procession will end in the Plaza de España with a nativity scene performance.
Granadilla: Inclusive and Vibrant Celebrations
In Granadilla, the Kings will make an offering to baby Jesus at the San Antonio de Padua church before beginning their parade at 5:30pm. Over 200 participants, dressed as beloved children's characters, will join the procession.
The event has been thoughtfully designed, with areas for children with diabetes (so they get sugar-free sweets), spaces for people with reduced mobility, and a sensory-friendly zone on the main street. An "inclusivity train" will also run during the parade, ensuring a welcoming experience for all.
San Miguel: A Night of Magic and Entertainment
San Miguel will host its parade at 6:00pm, following an offering at the main church. The procession, which will conclude at the Jonay Risco Pérez Cultural and Sports Centre, will feature animated characters, acrobats, and musicians.
At the end of the route, the Three Kings will greet children and collect their letters.
Santiago del Teide: Coastal Celebrations
The Kings will visit the cultural centre in Arguayo at 4:00pm and the social centre in Tamaimo an hour later. The main parade will begin at 6:00pm from Playa La Arena beach, passing through Puerto de Santiago and finishing in the Plaza Buganvilla Square in Los Gigantes.
The procession will include floats, decorated vehicles, and beloved Disney characters, ensuring a memorable event for attendees.
Guía de Isora: A Musical Extravaganza
The parade in Guía de Isora will feature two local bands, live singing, batucadas, dance schools, and a marching band. The route will end in the town square, where children can hand their letters to the Wise Men.
With each municipality offering its unique twist on the festivities, the southern region of Tenerife is set to usher in the Epiphany with light, joy, and inclusivity.
