According to the latest data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) today, the Canary Islands received a total of 1,407,956 international tourists during the month of February, marking a 14.4% increase compared to the same month of last year, with expenditure reaching 2.17 billion euros, a rise of 21.57%.
This represents the highest figure of international tourist arrivals and the highest in terms of spending for a February in the region's history of tourism.
On average, each tourist visiting the islands spent 165 euros per day in February, a decrease of 0.24% compared to the same month of last year, and stayed for 9.37 days. In total, the average expenditure per person amounted to 1,546 euros, a 6.27% increase from February 2023.
In January and February of this year, some 2,729,056 tourists visited the Canary Islands (an increase of 11.85%) and spent 4.18 billion euros in the region (a rise of 19.35%).
By regions, the Canary Islands was the most visited region of Spain in February, accounting for 28.11% of the total international tourists who visited the country, followed by Catalonia (20.96%) and Andalusia (14.49%).
