The National Police have arrested three men in Las Palmas (Gran Canaria), suspected of committing a violent robbery against three other people who had just withdrawn money from a cash machine, by threatening them with a knife to steal the money they had just got from the machine.
According to a press release from the National Police, the incident took place on Calle Albareda at approximately 1:30am this morning (Friday), when officers on patrol noticed three people in a highly agitated state near Calle Albareda, so they approached them and inquired if they needed assistance.
The victims told the officers that they had been robbed moments earlier after withdrawing money from the ATM, and described how three men had followed them, demanded money, and, when they refused to give it to them, threatened them with a knife.
Armed with the victims' descriptions of the three thieves, multiple National Police patrols immediately began searching for the suspects. One was apprehended just a few metres from the scene of the crime, while the other two were located and arrested on Paseo de Las Canteras, the beach promenade.
Following the completion of police procedures, the arrested individuals were brought before the judicial authorities this morning to be charged, and the money was returned to the victims.
