Partial reopening of exit ramp from Las Chafiras roundabout to TF-1 motorway

Drivers can once again use the exit ramp from the Las Chafiras roundabout leading to the TF-1 motorway heading south after it reopened yesterday afternoon (Monday).

This section of the road had been closed for essential works, including resurfacing, safety barrier installation, and signage improvements as part of the ongoing roadworks in the area.

The Tenerife Cabildo has confirmed the partial reopening is a significant milestone in the broader improvement project targeting one of the island’s most congested intersections.

The works are part of an extensive plan aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and enhancing safety for thousands of daily commuters in the south of Tenerife.

Improvements at Las Chafiras

The reopening follows months of work aimed at upgrading the infrastructure at the Las Chafiras interchange. This project, essential for streamlining access to the TF-1 motorway, has included the expansion of road capacity with new lanes and ramps. These additions are expected to reduce peak-hour bottlenecks and congestion that have long plagued the area.

Significant improvements have also been made to road surfaces, offering a smoother and safer driving experience. Additionally, new safety barriers and horizontal signage have been installed to enhance the overall safety of the route.

A Strategic Step for Southern Tenerife

Las Chafiras serves as a critical access point to Tenerife's southern region, which is vital for both tourism and the local population. This reopening forms part of a larger initiative to modernise the TF-1 motorway’s infrastructure, with upgrades underway at other key sections of the highway.

The partial reopening of this exit ramp is expected to ease traffic flow over the Christmas period, while construction continues in other parts of the interchange. The Cabildo has reassured the public of its commitment to minimising disruptions and expediting the project to completion.
