A 30-year-old man was injured yesterday afternoon after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a car on the TF-1 motorway in Adeje, south Tenerife.
The accident happened at kilometre 80 of the motorway in the northbound direction on Monday afternoon, prompting the mobilisation of emergency services and the Guardia Civil.
The Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES 112) received an alert about the collision at approximately 4:20pm.
Following an assessment of the information received from the caller, emergency coordinators dispatched medical resources from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), including a medicalised ambulance and a basic life-support ambulance.
The motorcyclist was assessed at the scene and was found to have suffered trauma which was initially classified as moderate.
After receiving treatment from emergency personnel, he was transferred by basic life-support ambulance to Hospital del Sur for further assessment and treatment.
No information has been released indicating that the occupants of the car involved required hospital treatment.
Guardia Civil attended the scene
Guardia Civil traffic officers were also sent to the motorway following the collision.
They regulated traffic around the accident scene and carried out the corresponding accident report to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Personnel from Tenerife's road maintenance service were also mobilised. Their teams secured and signposted the affected section of motorway before clearing the carriageway.
Traffic incidents on the TF-1 can quickly lead to congestion, particularly during busy daytime periods, because of the volume of vehicles using the motorway.
The exact circumstances surrounding Monday afternoon's collision have not been publicly confirmed. The Guardia Civil prepared the official accident report following the incident.
