A 60-year-old man has died following a head-on collision between two vehicles on the TF-16 road in Tejina, in the municipality of La Laguna, late last night (Monday).

The fatal crash happened just after 11:30pm on the TF-16. Emergency services were alerted after reports of a serious collision involving two cars.

Firefighters, a medical ambulance, a basic life support ambulance, and Local Police officers were sent to the area. Fire crews secured the damaged vehicles and freed the occupants trapped inside.

Paramedics assessed both casualties and found that the male driver had suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite extensive resuscitation efforts, they were unable to save him, and his death was confirmed.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 58-year-old woman, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands for treatment.

Local Police assisted emergency crews and have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
