Man in critical condition after suffering heart attack in the sea in Tenerife

A 50-year-old man is in critical condition after being rescued from the sea while in cardiorespiratory arrest in the municipality of San Miguel de Abona, in the south of Tenerife, as reported by Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).

The incident occurred around 12:50pm yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) in the Callado del Guincho de Arriba area, near the coast of Las Chafiras, after the man encountered difficulties while he was in the water.

Upon receiving an alert for medical assistance, CECOES dispatched firefighters to the location given, who managed to rescue him from the water and confirm that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest. Because of this they immediately began resuscitation efforts, which were continued by SUC medical personnel as soon as they arrived at the scene.

Fortunately, they managed to recover his pulse and stabilised him so that he could be transported by ambulance to the HUC Hospital where is he was admitted in critical condition and is receiving urgent treatment.
