A man died this afternoon (Monday) after being rescued from the sea at El Bollullo beach, located in the municipality of La Orotava in Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
The tragic incident occurred at 3:30pm when the 112 call centre received an alert from lifeguards at the El Bollullo beach, reporting that they had rescued a swimmer from the sea who was in cardiac arrest, and were administering CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) to try and revive him.
A doctor, who happened to be at the beach, assisted in the care of the affected man, until paramedics arrived by ambulance and SUC medical personnel by helicopter, who confirmed that the man was still in cardiac arrest.
Despite their combined efforts and performing advanced CPR manoeuvres, no positive outcome was achieved, and they couldn’t save his life confirming his death shortly after.
The Guardia Civil took responsibility for the body until judicial authority was given to take it for official identification and an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
