Guardia Civil detains five youths for theft and fraud in Costa Teguise

The Guardia Civil has arrested two people and launched an investigation into three teenagers for their alleged involvement in a theft and fraud case in Costa Teguise, in Lanzarote, accused of stealing several credit and debit cards and a mobile phone valued at €1,100.

The investigation began following a report from a man who claimed his mobile phone and wallet, containing several credit cards, were stolen while he was at a nightclub in the area.

Shortly after the theft, the stolen cards were used to make multiple purchases in local shops, so the Guardia Civil viewed CCTV footage from the establishments where the fraudulent purchases were made. This analysis helped identify the suspects, who were found to have used the stolen cards in supermarkets, shops, and cafes, only spending small amounts to avoid having to enter a PIN number.

Two suspects were detained on November 2nd and November 4th, while three minors were also implicated in the crimes. The investigation led to the collection of evidence and the identification of the group responsible for the thefts.

The case has been forwarded to the Arrecife Investigative Court, which will handle the legal proceedings for the detainees. The suspects are now awaiting further judicial action as the investigation continues.
