A total of eleven flights have been diverted so far today, Wednesday due to severe weather conditions caused by Storm Claudia, which continues to affect air traffic across the Canary Islands, according to AENA.
At Gran Canaria Airport, four flights were diverted to Fuerteventura, two to Tenerife North, and one to Tenerife South. Meanwhile, at La Palma Airport, two flights were redirected to Tenerife North, and another two to Gran Canaria and Tenerife South, respectively.
The diversions come as the storm brings strong winds, heavy rain, and turbulence across the archipelago, prompting widespread travel disruptions and safety precautions.
Authorities have also announced that weather warnings have been extended across the Canary Islands for tomorrow, Thursday, with an orange alert for rain and yellow alerts for wind, waves, and thunderstorms in place for all islands.
Residents and visitors are urged to follow official recommendations and remain cautious as Storm Claudia continues to impact the region.
