The Granadilla de Abona Council has published a statement on social media informing the population that the signs, in English and Spanish, and the tape sealing off the area that appeared on the beach of El Médano this morning (Saturday) are fake.
According to the council, the beach is not closed or sealed off, and analyses show that the water quality is perfectly suitable for swimming.
The person or people responsible for putting up these false notifications are unknown, but they have alarmed residents and holidaymakers asi t states that the beach is closed to the public and swimming is prohibited due to the presence of Monofaecal bacteria, passing itself off as the local council.
Both were immediately removed and the beach was open as usual. The authorities are looking for the people responsible for these actions.
