A Norwegian airline flight declared an emergency en route to Gran Canaria Airport on Saturday evening after the crew requested medical assistance for an unconscious passenger on board.
NOZ91R originating from Norway, notified Air Traffic Controllers of the situation who immediately cleared the flight path for the plane to land as quickly as possible, and coordinated with the emergency services at the airport so that the affected passenger could receive prompt medical assistance.
The aircraft was positioned for a direct approach to runway 03L, minimising the time required for the passenger to receive medical attention, and after it had landed safely the medical team attended to the passenger.
