A restaurant from the Canary Islands has secured a Top 5 spot in the national rankings of 'The Fork', the leading online restaurant booking platform in Europe, marking a significant achievement for the region's culinary scene.
D'Vales Bay, located in Corralejo, Fuerteventura, has claimed fourth position on the platform's Summer Hits list, which highlights must-visit dining destinations for the summer.
This is the second year that The Fork has made a Summer Hits list, based on a range of criteria including quality, charm, and location. It also factors in user data from the platform, such as average ratings, traffic, and reviews.
While the Canary Islands boast a diverse and high-quality range of restaurants, it's rare for them to rank so high on a national scale, especially those not associated with famous chefs or located in the capital islands (Tenerife and Gran Canaria). However, D'Vales Bay has broken the mould, impressing diners with its carefully curated menu and stunning views of Corralejo's harbour and Isla de Lobos.
D'Vales Bay's menu is concise yet varied, with each dish crafted as a house specialty. The restaurant places a strong emphasis on appetizers, making them a highlight of the dining experience. Notable starters include the Iberian pork carpaccio with anchovies, cheese, and pine nuts; steak tartare with cured goat cheese; Nikkei-style ceviche with tuna; and foie-gras micuit with smoked eel and corn.
For those who prefer more familiar flavours, the menu also offers creative takes on classic dishes like Caesar salad, Andalusian-style calamari, and croquettes. Additionally, seafood lovers can enjoy oysters, pickled mussels, or garlic prawns.
D'Vales Bay's main courses feature both popular dishes and their own unique creations. Diners can savour options like Galician-style octopus, tenderloin steak with padrón peppers, and the catch of the day served with pan-fried potatoes. A standout is their sea bass with clams, artichokes, and green sauce, as well as the Iberian pork with rice and anchovies.
For dessert, the restaurant pays homage to Fuerteventura with its '3 de cabra' dish, incorporating goat cheese, yoghurt, and cheese. Classic options include torrijas with cream and hazelnut ice cream, and a coulant paired with raspberry ice cream. The most original sweet treat on offer is their mango parfait, made with mango, carrot, cheese, and pomegranate.
D'Vales Bay's recognition in 'The Fork' rankings not only highlights the exceptional dining experience it offers, but also highlights the growing appeal of the Canary Islands as a top culinary destination.
